Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: This test system reacted with all TSWV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is very strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 1.900 - 3.000 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is very high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant leaf tissues diluted at 1:2430.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues. Background is very low on all of the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect TSWV in infected host plants.

Viral Particle:
Virus Infection: Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) infects many
vegetable and field crops such as tomatoes, peppers, and tobacco. The
virus is also found in some ornamental crops such as chrysanthemums, dahlias and
other greenhouse crops. TSWV infection causes a variety of
symptoms, such as mild ringspots to lethal necrosis of leaf or stem tissues, and
other various symptoms depending upon the crop infected. TSWV is readily
transmitted by thrips among plants, especial in greenhouse crops.
