Source Antibody:  Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and detection.
Test Format:  DAS ELISA                                   

Reactivity:  The test reacted with all CiLRV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is moderate strong.  Optical Density at 405_nm  is in arrange of 0.800 - >2.500 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.

Sensitivity:  Sensitivity of the ELISA is moderate high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted  at 1:810 - 1:2430.

Specificity:  There is no cross reaction with healthy plant  tissues such as citrus or other host plants. Background is low on all of  the negative control wells.

Application:  The test can be used to detect CiLRV in infected host plants.

Information About the Virus

Name:  Citrus Leaf Rugose Virus
Acronym:  CiLRV
Synonyms:  citrus psorosis virus complex, citrus crinkly leaf ilarvirus
Group/Genus:  Ilarvirus

Vector:  Transmitted by means not involving a vector.
Transmission: Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by grafting; possibly transmitted by seed.
Main natural host plants: Citrus aurantifolia, C. limon, C. paradisi

Virus Infection:  causes flecking of young leaves and malformation of old leaves (particularly of Eureka lemons), fruit small and lumpy. Symptoms persist, or vary seasonally.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Citrus limon Eureka lemon - asteroid local lesions. Citrus sinensis, C. limon, C. reticulata - crinkling and flecking. Vigna unguiculata - vein clearing, malformation. Crotalaria spectabilis - systemic chlorotic veinbanding.

Geographical distribution: Spreads in the USA (California). Found, but with no evidence of spread, in Australia.
